Vegan Bloggers on the Radio!

I will be cohosting a local radio show, Go Vegan Texas this coming Monday, April 14, and the topic of the show is vegan blogging! We will be interviewing two of your favorite bloggers, Bazu from Where's the Revolution and Emilie from The Conscious Kitchen! The show will be airing live from 10-11am CST. You can listen to it live on the internet here (or go to the homepage and click on the picture of the cow). Or if you would like to listen to it at your leisure, you can find the show on kpft's archives. We will be discussing some of the following topics (time goes fast on live radio!):

  • Path to veganism

  • Blogging as a form of activism

  • Blogging as a means of connecting with new people, as well as friends and family

  • Veganism and travel

  • The anatomy of a blog post

  • Meeting other bloggers face to face

  • Favorite posts

  • How much time do you spend on your blog? Reading and commenting on others?

I would love to hear everyone's comments about these topics, maybe I'll even have time to mention a few on the radio. I hope you take the time to tune in and listen to the show! And please forgive me if I sound a bit nervous :-)

**Update**
Thanks so very much to those of you who tuned in, have downloaded and listened to, or are planning on listening to the show!! (link to the archives above) I really appreciate all of your support. I thought the show went wonderfully and I must thank Bazu and Emilie for being such amazing guests. Kristen (one of the GVT hosts) has asked me to join her again in the studio in June, which I'll be looking forward to. Here are a few pictures, one is of me in the studio and the other two are the drool worthy treats that I made from their blogs so we could taste test during the interviews. Let's just say I left the studio with empty plates!

Wow- how fun! I will definitely be sure to listen in on Monday (probably not live, though- but I'll listen somehow!). All of those topics sound interesting and I'm especially eager to hear about veganism and travel (if you have time to get to it that is) since my family and I are currently planning a trip.

I know you'll do a wonderful job and I can't wait!

Vegans on the radio! What will they think of next! Good luck, I'll bet you'll be great!

Too cool! I won't be able to hear it live, but I'll listen when I get home. You'll be great!

Oh I am soooo excited for you to try working with fondant! It's so much fun; it's like edible clay!

At first it can be kinda hard (especially if you leave it out-- when you're done working with it, remember to cover it well). But if you roll it/squish it a while, it softens right up.

Word of warning-- I think the stuff tastes disgusting (but maybe that's just me!).

How exciting! Vegans taking over the airwaves! Between work and our time difference, I don't think I'll be able to tune in, but I'll definitely check out the archives after the show if I can't!

I'm really looking forward to this! Thanks so much, Amanda, for taking the time to create vegan content for the airwaves.

Hey! I'm not sure if I've ever left a comment before but I adore your blog and adore the balance you have here. It's really beautifully done! I especially loooove the pictures of the sweet treats ;) I just recently posted something about a couple of recipes that I'm trying out for the Passover Holiday but I need some advice on some substitutions! If you or anyone reading this could help me out, I'd be SO appreciative!! Happy Saturday and Cheers <3

That sounds great! I'll make sure to listen, but probably not until after the show, I'm in a whole different timezone.

Yay!

I love listening to Go Vegan Texas! It's one of my favorite podcasts and it's also really helpful because I live about an hour away from Houston. That's how I found out about the Chili Cookoff. It must be so exciting to be able to co-host. Have fun!

How cool! When I was in Brisbane there was a food theme for the week on the radio station we listened to, and 3 or 4 nights in a row they mentioned veganism, and didn't make us sound like freaks! I love that we're becoming more mainstream, so good on you for doing this!

Chris said...

Cool! I'm glad I read this in time to catch it live!

bazu said...

Just another example of all the work you do on behalf of veganism- I'm honored (and nervous!) to be a part of this... only a couple of hours now!

Just finished listening. Great show! How cool to hear about another vegan mayor. Our current mayor is vegan as well but finding one in small-town Texas is extra cool.

I listened during my lunch hour. All you ladies were outstanding, well spoken representatives of veganism and blogging. Very impressive. I feel so proud to be in this community with you.

I can't believe that you have a REGULAR local radio show on veganism. That's awesome.

I couldn't listen to the live version yesterday (school...ugh) but I can home and downloaded it right away! I had no idea one of the mayors in Texas was vegan- how cool! And of course, you did a great job! You really didn't sound nervous at all. And the vegan goodies you brought in look delicious! I was so jealous listening to you guys enjoy them (hehe). Once again, congratulations :)

Awesome job!!!! I loved listening! You were so eloquent-- a wonderful vegan representative!

ChocolateCoveredVegan said...

Oh, and yes, I loooved going to the wax museum :o). I have another picture with Johnny Depp in his pirate regalia, and all my friends are jealous. Then I have one with Hillary Clinton-- I like to torment my Republican friends with that one ;o)

Thanks for all of the links, I will definitely be listening to this show again.

I just listened to the show--congratulations on an amazing job! You all sounded very articulate, and perfectly comfortable on-air--extremely professional. Well done! And, like Mihl, I am amazed that there's a regular radio show for vegans out there--fabulous.

I finally got around to listening to your show and you sounded great Amanda!

Also thought I would mention, on the topic of angel food cake - I think Dreena Burton is in the process of working on a veganized version - I think she posted about it on her blog recently. :-)
