One Week!

To celebrate one week of wedded bliss (and, sniff, to say goodbye to my new hubby until Wednesday as he left for a business trip to Utah), I had my first attempt at making waffles (a wedding gift from my aunt, thanks!). And success! Here are my pumpkin waffles, recipe from VWAV...

I couldn't resist a photo that included my new autumn accessories, lacquered gourds and mini-pumpkins! Making waffles was so much easier than I imagined, I had this huge fear of them sticking to the waffle iron. After a healthy dose of canola oil, I think I sealed my path to victory. I also added some pecans to the batter. This will be breakfast for the rest of the week!

Saturday night, we had pizza. I had been wanting to use up the Field Roast Italian Sausage we'd had in the fridge for awhile now and this sounded like the perfect opportunity. I should have taken a picture of John's pizza, I think it was triple the height of mine! We stacked our pizzas with pine nut pesto, spinach, heirloom tomatoes, mushrooms, red pepper, zucchini, sun-dried tomatoes, the italian "sausage", and FYH mozzarella. Quite tasty...

The best part about making pizzas is that I alwasy have enough dough leftover to make calzones. I sent this one with John on his trip, with a cute note from his "little wife". The other one I will enjoy today for lunch!

Cooking for one the next few days...

Love the waffles. They sound so good. Fall is in the air. Pumpkin yum! I agree with you on what to do with leftover pizza dough, calzones are the best.

The pumpkin waffle picture is awesome! I am always surprised how much you people always use pumpkin. And in so many ways! Now I know why this vegetable is so huge.

Aww, I hope you have a lifetime of marriage milestones to celebrate. I guess I haven't looked at waffle makers in a while - your waffles look so fancy! I'm glad your first try was a success.

The pizza and calzones look fantastic. They're not my favorite foods to eat, but they are some of my favorites to make.

Ok, you guys are officially too cute! And so are your waffles- I want a waffle maker very badly, especially if it will make anything resembling yours. They are so thick and beautiful. And can I just say how much I love home-made pizza...

Oh, I've been wanting to make pizzas so badly! It looks soooo yummy! The waffles look great too, I've never tried them with pumpkin, I always make mine wholegrain with flax seeds- Need to try something new!

I'm much too lazy to make calzones. I love them soo much but it's more work than just making normal pizza. They look so so good though.

The waffles looked pretty near to perfect!
I have never had calzone before, is it just folded pizza or is the recipe altered for it?
Happy one week anniversay, we had ours yesterday, Graham celebrated ours by going to a gig with his friends, oh well!
