Las Vegas in a NY Minute

Happy late 4th of July!! Just thought I would show off my Stars and Stripes cobbler (recipe based on this one from Everyday Dish).

I should be sleeping right now, but here's a quick run down of our trip to Las Vegas. Thanks to stonie brook for her suggestions! The first place we hit up was the Go Raw Cafe down by the airport. For lunch, I had the enchilada. Very refreshing after stuffing my face with way too much food the day before in San Fran.

And of course, what trip to Vegas would be complete with out a little... no, not gambling (for me at least).... vegan donuts from Ronald's! I roused up John and the couple we met in Vegas to drive out and get some donuts one morning. This place looks like a normal donut show, but the top two shelved are all vegan! These reminded me of the donuts I used to have growing up. We tried chocolate covered, cream filled, glazed, and what John referred to as an "apple burrito".

After donuts, we made a trip out to the Hoover Dam, quite an amazing engineering accomplishment!

Other things we did in Vegas... walk the strip, see two shows (go see Le Reve!), watch John play blackjack, ate overpriced sushi. And I got a preview of the city where I am right now.... New York!

Can't wait to catch up with what everyone has been up to!

That stars and stripes cobbler is too cute! That's definitely a new way to do the ol' red, white, and blue Fourth of July dessert!

Ooooooooooooh- vegan donuts- I think it's so cool that Ronald's is just a regular donut shop, where a lot of it happens to be vegan!

I love your patriotic cobbler! Las Vegas looks great. I wasn't vegan last time I was there so I missed out on the donuts and raw food.

Vegas has always seemed so over-the-top and unappealing to me, but for vegan donuts, I may just have to go!

And adorable cobbler, by the way.

Aww, the cobbler is SO awesome! I hope it tasted as good as it looks!
Raw enchiladas are typically SO good, they've my fave at the raw place here.
I wanted an apple burrito SO badly, but a friend brought me other (delicious) things. They are totally Sunday morning with the family donuts, I love them!
I hope you're enjoying NYC!

Your cobbler looks great! I love seeing everyone's patriotic fourth of july desserts.

I am stopping by Vegas in a couple weeks, and I told my boyfriend that my one requirement was going to Ronald's. I could eat french fries and iceberg salads the rest of the time for all I care, as long as I get some donuts!

Hope your're having a great time in NY.

Vegan donuts, sound delicious... The starts and stripes cobbler takes the cake though... Kathleen and I were in Vegas for a stopover en route to Zion NP and Bryce Canyon last September; hadn't been to Vegas in nearly 20 years and wow, was it different. Still felt the same inside of a casino though. Hope to see you guys at a vegan meetup one of these days. I am hankering for a BBQ sandwich at Field of Greens.

My parents went to Las Vegas last year, and they loved it so much they want to take my sister and me. I'll definitely hit up Ronald's Doughnuts if I go!

Thanks for your really kind words on my blog post. You truly are a great friend.

You've really been on the go lately! Looks like you've had a lot of fun and good eats.

What a beautiful cobbler. Cute idea to cut the dough into star shapes.

We've just finalized our traveling plans and it looks like we're going to be traveling through Texas in October. We're going to stop and see some friends in Austin and were thinking about stopping in Houston for a day/night. If you're interested in meeting up, email me at vivaciousvegan (at) gmail (dot) com.
